This archive may have started as an assignment project but it ended up being quite important for all of us for a very specific and common reason, it gave us the opportunity to intensify our everyday communion with nature and to create memories including natural elements. Having been raised in contemporary societies around the world, for all of us (more for some and less for others) it is becoming more and more difficult to enjoy nature’s serenity, because of the fast-paced urban life we have been living in. We can say that we (and our whole generation) experience the established division between nature and human culture on an everyday basis. Throughout this project though, we got the chance to be in nature, closely observe and enjoy nature. We even got to create tiny natural environments and have them in our house every day. This intense interaction with nature and the whole process of learning about nature throughout the duration of our assignment ended up being not only education but also therapeutic for all of us, and gifted us with many ‘nature memories’ and a greater appreciation for nature.

Moreover, in a world where our disconnection from nature has resulted in humanity over-exploiting and essentially destroying nature, our generation is intensely trying to adopt environmentally-friendly behaviors and be more environmentally conscious for the sake of our planet’s well-being. In that way, it is important that through this project we learned even more about how structuring societies around the mindset of hyper-separation between nature and culture has led humanity to pollute, drain, destroy and feel an overall apathy towards nature. This knowledge made us more aware of the problems we have to resolve in order to fuel progress.

So what?
